Armenian businessman Levon Ayrapetyan, suspected of stealing and
laundering money from sales of Bashneft shares, may be pardoned, his
lawyer Rudolf Ambartsumov said at the Basmanny Court in Moscow. He
clarified that the businessman could be pardoned according to the
economic amnesty initiated by the parliament.
Ambartsumov noted that the Sistema company had caused the losses,
not the businessman himself.
Ayrapetyan has been hospitalized with bladder cancer. His lawyer wants
the businessman to be put under house arrest instead of detention,
due to his health conditions.
