    US PATENT ISSUED TO PURECIRCLE USA ON DEC. 16 FOR "GLUCOSYL STEVIA COMPOSITION" (ARMENIAN INVENTOR)

    ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 8,911,971, issued
    on Dec. 16, was assigned to PureCircle USA Inc. (Oak Brook, Ill.).

    "Glucosyl stevia composition" was invented by Avetik Markosyan
    (Yerevan, Armenia). According to the abstract* released by the U.S.

    Patent & Trademark Office: "Glucosyl stevia compositions are
    prepared from steviol glycosides of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni. The
    glucosylation was performed by cyclodextrin glucanotransferase
    using starch as the source of glucose residues. The short-chain
    glucosyl stevia compositions were purified to >95% content
    of total steviol glycosides. The compositions can be used as
    sweetness enhancers, flavor enhancers and sweeteners in foods,
    beverages, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals." The patent was filed
    on May 4, 2011, under Application No. 13/984,884. *For further
