A closed show of the video of torture of Armenian serviceman Hakob
Injighulyan in Azerbaijani captivity took place at the Ombudsman's
office in Yerevan on Tuesday, reports News.am .
The video was taken from one of the Azerbaijanis who were apprehended
in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh last July. Two of them are
on trial in Stepanakert on charges of committing murders and acts
of sabotage.
The video, which is also part of evidence in the trial, was handed
over to the Ombudsman's Office by Armenia's Defense Ministry.
The screening was attended by representatives of the diplomatic mission
of the UK, Germany, France as well as the OSCE, the Council of Europe
and the UN.
Injighulyan, 23, was taken prisoner by Azerbaijani forces near the
Line of Contact in Nagorno-Karabakh after losing his way and appearing
in Azerbaijani-controlled territory in August 2013.
He spent more than a year in Azerbaijani captivity before being
released and sent to a third country with the mediation of an
international humanitarian organization. He returned to Armenia in
early October, saying that he had to agree to the option of being
transferred to a neutral country as his captors in Azerbaijan would
have killed him had he expressed his desire to be repatriated to
Armenia immediately.
Injighulyan reportedly resumed his military service in the Armenian
armed forces in November. He was also questioned as witness in the
trial of two Azerbaijani citizens in Nagorno-Karabakh.
