THE PRISONER REPORTS THAT THE POLICEMEN COMMITTED VIOLENCE AGAINST HIM

A criminal case was launched based on the report of the prisoner of
"Nubarashen" Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice
of the Republic of Armenia as per the materials prepared in the Special
Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with
Part 3 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the prisoner's report, on November 11, 2014, the employees
of the above division of Armavir Police Department committed violence
against him when taking him into custody, then they tortured him and
showed brutal attitude towards him as a result of which after being
carried into the Prisoners' Detention Facility he committed a suicide
attempt which was averted by the officer on duty of the Prisoners'
Detention Facility.
A preliminary investigation is underway.
Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed
innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the
effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal
Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
