EEU SHOULD BECOME A NEW GLOBAL ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE - ARMENIAN EXPERT
YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. The Eurasian Economic Union should
turn into a new global economic and political powerhouse, head of
Alternative research center economist Tatul Manaseryan said at a
round-table discussion on Eurasian integration on Thursday.
If an ambitious but still realistic goal of a new power center is
not achieved, then the whole thing is useless, according to the expert.
"It is a realistic goal, and we must make it come true together as
there is no alternative", Manaseryan said as cited by Novosti-Armenia.
It is good Armenia is seeking new friends, but the old ones should
not be forgotten, he said.
According to the economist, the dynamic development in the world
leaves no way but to unite efforts and not to seek new allies, but
to get the old ones back, as Armenia has quite a few old friends.
"These are not imaginary and artificial, but, first of all, cultural
ties. We are not forced, we are just interested in being with other
EEU members, and I believe it will be a success", Manaseryan said.
Thorough work should be carried out in the first year of the EEU
to help the political leaders make balanced decisions and combine
interests of all member-countries, the economist said.
The round-table discussion on the pressing issues of the Eurasian
integration, arranged by "Integration and Development" research and
analysis organization and Noravank science and education foundation,
involved politicians and public figures from Armenia, Russia, Belarus
and Kazakhstan. -0--
