FIVE NEW SLAUGHTERHOUSES TO BE BUILT IN 2015
YEREVAN, December 19. / ARKA /. In January 2015 five new
slaughterhouses will start operating in Armenia, according to deputy
minister of agriculture Grisha Bagiyan, who told a news conference
today that the slaughterhouses will operate in Lori, Vayotsdzor,
Aragatsotn and Kotayk regions.
He said five slaughterhouses have been built already in the outgoing
year by private companies with co-funding from the government. The
government had bought equipment, while private companies built the
premises.
Bagiyan said the construction of slaughterhouses will continue
in other regions as well so that animals are slaughtered only in
specialized premises.
By the end of 2013 there were 24 slaughterhouses in the country,
six of which were not suitable for operation. -0-
