Karabakh: Bodies, remains of three Armenian pilots recovered in
overnight operation
R.I.P.: Armenian helicopter crew killed in Karabakh buried with
military honors
The Armenian side has provided an earlier promised "disproportionate"
response to the Azeri deadly attack on its helicopter that was
carried out last month, Armenia's Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan
told reporters over the weekend.
An Armenian Mi-24 helicopter operating a training flight along
the Line of Contact with Azerbaijan was shot down by Azerbaijani
troops on November 12. Three Armenian pilots were killed on board the
downed aircraft. Azerbaijan kept the area in the neutral zone where
the helicopter felt under intense fire for 10 days not allowing the
Karabakh military to approach the wreckage site. The bodies of the
three pilots were eventually recovered due to a special operation
conducted by the Karabakh task force.
In the meantime, the Armenian side vowed to give a "disproportionate"
response to Azerbaijan for the attack, but did not reveal when and
under what circumstances this response would be provided.
"Disproportionate responses in most cases are military secrets. Not all
cases can be made public. This [promised] disproportionate response
has already taken place, and we've partly informed the public about
it," said Minister Ohanyan, without elaborating.
He said that the internal investigation into the helicopter
shooting incident has been completed and the Karabakh Defense Army
and law-enforcement agencies are carrying out investigative actions
within the framework of an instituted criminal case.
