ARMENIAN GEORGIAN TRADE IN 2014 EXCEEDS $500 MILLION
YEREVAN, December 24. / ARKA /. The Armenian-Georgian trade in the
outgoing year will exceed $500 million, Georgia's deputy prime minister
Giorgi Kvirikashvili said today.
Speaking to reporters in Yerevan after a meeting of the
Armenian-Georgian task force on trade and economic issues the Georgian
official said the bilateral trade in the first ten months of 2014
reached $450 million, higher than the total trade between the two
countries in 2013. Kvirikashvili said Armenia is one of the leading
trade partners of Georgia.
"We will do everything possible to build up these relations," he said.
On the devaluation of Georgia's national currency, Lari, he said it
has affected the economy of the country.
"We live in a region where not everything is all right. Naturally,
the devaluation affects domestic economy. We continue trading with all
our partners, but the trend of recent months is not what it used to be,
but we hope that it will not continue into the next year. Of course,
2015 will be a challenging year, but we expect a 5% real growth in
Georgia," he said.
In Yerevan Armenian and Georgian officials will look into developing
their relations in the context of Armenia's membership in the
Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union and Georgia's associated relations
with the European Union, construction of a new bridge at Bagratashen
border crossing and the transit of Armenian goods through the territory
of Georgia. -0-
