WE LOST HEROES TO HAVE THIS KIND OF MAP - PUBLIC INITIATIVE

    14:52 * 29.12.14

Armenian IT companies and the founding director of the ethnographic
dance group Karin, Gagik Ginosyan, on Monday introduced a new map
of Hayk (Armenian land) connecting the Republic of Armenia with
    Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

The initiative is aimed at eliminating the Soviet-time dividing
line between the two Armenian republics, said Vahagn Poghosyan,
a co-founder of the company Instigate.

"This map is for domestic consumption. And we want it to be printed
the way it exists in our hearts," he told reporters, stressing the
importance of spreading the map also in schools.

"The second purpose is to show the exact borderline which our soldier
    guards today," he continued.

Grigor Beglaryan, a cartographer also attending the news conference,
described the initiative as a major inspiration. "This is a step
forward for our cartography. And I find this to be the state's
business, as the state itself should have done this within the law,"
    he said.

Commenting on possible restrictions linked to Armenia's membership in
the Eurasian Customs Union, the specialist said he knows that Armenia
became a UN member state without Nagorno-Karabakh.

He further unveiled a plan for drawing up a map and atlas for Armenia,
considering it an unprecedented initiative aimed to restore historical
    Armenian place-names.

Karen Vardanyan, CEO of the Union of Information and Technology
Enterprises, said the map reflecting Armenia's Declaration of
Independence forms the basis of all the rest of laws. "I think this
is an attempt to 'wed' Armenia's fundamental legislation with our
nation's sons who won the war," he noted.

Vardanyan said it was very important that the map had been earlier
introduced to different eastern and western states. "We will not submit
to manipulations; we have suffered victims to have a map like this,"
    he added.

Ginosyan, who fought in Nagorno-Karabakh during the 1990's battle,
said he finds that the bayonets of Armenian soldiers map drew up the.

"There are guys who are ready for martyrdom to make the map bigger. We
must realize that a fatherland is one unity and avoid from splitting
    ourselves into parts," he noted.
