Czech Senator welcomes President's decision to recognize Armenian Genocide

    01.Feb.2014 - 14:44

Czech Senator Jaromà - r ÅtÄ?tina welcomed the recent statement by the
President of the Czech Republic about the Armenian Genocide. Armenian
news agency Armenpress informs about this. The Senator has regularly
been in favor of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the
    course of his career.

In a conversation with Armenpress, Jaromà - r ÅtÄ?tina said that he
intends to introduce a declaration on the recognition of the Armenian
Genocide to the foreign relations and defense committees of the Czech
Parliament in the lead up to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian
    Genocide.

`The declaration will be introduced in 2015 ahead of the 100th
anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. I would like the Czech Senate to
join the civilized parliaments which have recognized the Armenian
Genocide. Preparatory work towards the declaration will be launched in
late 2014,' the Czech Senator stated.
Jaromà - r ÅtÄ?tina strongly hopes that the planned official visit by the
President of the Czech Republic to Armenia at the invitation of the
Armenian President will greatly contribute to the adoption of a
    Genocide recognition bill.

Senator ÅtÄ?tina also praised the meeting of the Armenian President
with the spiritual leader of the Czech Republic, Cardinal Archbishop
of Prague Dominik Duka, who supports the recognition of the Armenian
    Genocide
