DECISION TO JOIN CUSTOMS UNION DIDN'T CANCEL ARMENIA-EU RELATIONS AGENDA, PRESIDENT SAYS

Yerevan /Mediamax/. President Serzh Sargsyan said that "Armenia's
decision to join the Customs Union didn't cancel the agenda of
Armenia-EU relations".
Serzh Sargsyan said this in his interview to Czech "Lidove Noviny"
("People's News") newspaper within his visit to Czech Republic
Mediamax reports.
"Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union didn't cancel the agenda
of Armenia-EU relations as our relations with the European Union are
built on shared values, respect to human rights, supremacy of law and
devotion to democratic institutions. The part of our dialogue with
the EU which is related to our commitments to implement reforms in
Armenia and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation is still a
priority on the agenda of our relations", said the President.
Speaking about "Eastern Partnership" program, Serzh Sargsyan said that
"it's a mechanism of contacts with our European partners which allows
us to reach common goals and objectives in the context interconnection
of our countries' cultures, expansion of economic ties and deepening
of political dialogue".
"We will strive to realize the goals set by Vilnius statement which
will underlie Armenia-EU cooperation in near future", said the
Armenian President.
