HRANT BAGRATYAN: COMPULSORY ACCUMULATIVE PENSION SYSTEM WILL LEAD TO A "MAIDAN" IN ARMENIA
Tuesday, February 4, 20:00
The compulsory accumulative pension system is one more shady
undertaking of Armenia's authorities. This is a highly explosive
undertaking and it will lead to a "Maidan", Hrant Bagratyan, member
of the parliamentary faction of the Armenian National Congress Party,
said at today's session of the Armenian National Assembly.
"The pension reforms in Armenia have analogues in no country of the
world. They are absurd. How can the citizens lend their money for
45 years? Money is not deposited for 45 years. Have you ever seen a
thing like this? What about inflation in 45 years? Have you thought
about that?" the MP asked the Government.
He added that the law on compulsory accumulative pension system runs
counter to the Constitution of Armenia. "We have recently witnessed
a parade of anti-constitutional laws and agreements. The matter also
concerns the notorious gas agreements with Russia. The impression
is that it is not the laws that contradict the Constitution, but
it is the Constitution that runs counter to these laws", Bagratyan
said ironically.
