NEXT SESSION OF ARMENIA IRAN COMMISSION TO TAKE PLACE IN TEHRAN
YEREVAN, February 12. / ARKA /. The 12th session of the
Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission will be held in Tehran
later this year, the Armenian government said following a meeting
between prime minister Tigran Sargsyan and Iranian ambassador to
Armenia Mohammed Reisi .
The regular session will focus on ways to expand cooperation in
bilateral and multilateral formats, the government said.
Tigran Sargsyan was said to have congratulated the ambassador and
the friendly Iranian people on their national holiday - the 35th
anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, celebrated on February 11.
"The sessions help us to expand the friendship between the two peoples,
and we must consistently implement joint program," the prime minister
was quoted as saying in a press release.
The ambassador said that development of cooperation with Armenia is
one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Iran and that Tehran
is ready to expand both bilateral and multilateral partnerships with
Armenia in various sectors, particularly in the energy sector.
The two sides were said to have discussed a wide range of issues
in the fields of energy, tourism and infrastructure development,
including the pace of construction of Meghri hydropower plant and
the third transmission line for Iran and Armenia to make seasonal
electricity swaps and also some details relating to construction of
Iran -Armenia railway and oil pipeline.
Tigran Sargsyan was invited to visit Iran on behalf of first
vice-president Eskhad Jahangiri, the government said. -0-
