ZHOGHOVURD: ARMENIAN JUDGES TO GO ON STRIKE?
09:52 * 14.02.14
Armenian judges may go on strike to voice their complaints against
controversial provisions of the law ensuring social guarantees for
retired state officials, the paper has learned.
Citing its sources, it says that several judges have now applied to
the International, and European Associations of Judges, calling for
attention to the problem.
The paper says it has received a copy of the letter expressing the
judges' complaints about imperfections in the law. "The law gives no
clarification as to why the judge's right to receive a 'high pension',
i.e. - the social guarantee of judges' independence -has been excluded
[from the law], and why it was decided to apply it only to those who
have served as a judge for many years, instead of the individuals
who become a judge after the passage of the law," reads the appeal,
according to the paper.
