    IRAN, ARMENIA DISCUSS DEVELOPMENT OF MUTUAL COOPERATION

    TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Armenian officials in a meeting in Yerevan
    conferred on ways to consolidate bilateral relations and mutual
    cooperation between the two countries.

    The meeting was held between Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan
    and Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Raeesi in Yerevan on
    Wednesday.

    During the meeting, the Armenian prime minister called for the further
    expansion of ties between Armenia and Iran, and said, expansion of
    ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran is prioritized in Armenia's
    foreign policy.

    The two sides also discussed issues related to economic and commercial
    cooperation, construction of Iran-Armenia third transmission line of
    high-voltage electricity.

    The Iranian ambassador, for his part, said that Iran deems as important
    relations with Armenia and it makes efforts for its expansion.

    Raeesi said that expansion of cooperation with Armenia in different
    areas is priority of Iran's foreign policy, adding that broadening of
    bilateral ties, specially in the fields of energy and transportation
    are of special importance.

    In another meeting in November, Iranian Energy Minister Hamid chitchian
    and his Armenian counterpart Ara Simonian, in a meeting in Tehran,
    called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation between the
    two countries, specially in electricity fields.

    During the meeting, the Iranian energy minister pointed to the current
    status of Iran-Armenia relations, and said, "The two countries enjoy
    very close cooperation in the fields of energy and electricity."

    He underlined that the two sides have also agreed to create a joint
    venture to run a new power transfer line.

    The Armenian energy minister, for his part, said that Armenia supports
    the construction of the third line for transfer of high-voltage
    electricity and Aras Hydroelectric Power Station.
