The Armenian government decided to create a commission to check the
caloric value of the gas consumed in the country. RA Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsyan at a cabinet meeting today asked Public Services
Regulatory Commission Chair Robert Nazaryan to explain how to increase
the public's trust.
According to Sargsyan, experts have provided many explanations, but
there are still doubts as to whether the caloric value corresponds
to the standard of 7,900 kcal.
Nazaryan acknowledged the recent complaints about the caloric value of
gas. "So that we can be convincing, it would be good to establish a
working group, coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, which would
include experts also from the National Academy of Sciences," he
said, stressing that critics have expressed the view that nitrogen
is extracted from the gas, resulting in an increase in the gas volume.
The prime minister, in turn, said, according to expert conclusions,
it's impossible to artificially change the caloric value.
As a result of the discussions, Tigran Sargsyan instructed Minister
and Chief of Government Staff Vache Gabrielyan to prepare a decision
to establish a commission headed by the Ministry of Economy.
"Try to make it so that al interested parties submit applications and
participate in the work of this commission," said the prime minister.
