TITLE: Public Relations (PR) Specialist
TERM: Full time
OPEN TO/ ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: All interested and qualified candidates.
START DATE/ TIME: February 1, 2014
DURATION: 1 year, with possible extension
LOCATION: Yerevan, Armenia
JOB DESCRIPTION: The organization is looking for a Public Relations
Specialist, who will be primarily responsible for handling all aspects of
the organization's PR activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Timely preparation of articles and other information materials in Armenian
and English (and Russian, whenever necessary) for the organization's website
and networks the organization participates in, highlighting the
organization's activities, events and projects.
- Coverage of the organization's activities in mass media:
o Development of database of top mass media in Armenia;
o When required, ensure full media coverage of the organization's
activities (seminars, discussions, etc.);
o When required, preparation, editing, collection and dissemination of the
organization's materials and other information on the organization's
activities through the national news media (national and local newspapers,
internet media, news agencies etc.) and among different stakeholders;
o Participation in the organization's activities for the purpose of
preparing materials for mass media, if necessary.
- Maintenance of the organization's website and networks, timely news and
information update.
- Development of promo materials.
- When required, active participation and assistance in conducting meetings,
presentations, workshops and other activities of the organization, aimed at
raising awareness on the implemented projects and activities.
- Establishment and maintenance of links and good relations with
local/national and international NGOs, organizations, networks and other
entities.
- High-quality and accurate translations from Armenian into English and
Russian and vice versa of articles, documents, reports and other materials.
- When required, interpretation services during meetings, consultations,
workshops, trainings, events and field visits.
- When required, participation in visits to different RA regions for
preparing information materials on the initiatives, activities, events and
projects implemented by the organization.
- Preparation of semester (6-month) newsletters.
- When necessary, provision of administrative support such as
preparing/typing documents and making meeting arrangements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A post-graduate university degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations
or Linguistics,
- At least three (3) years of work experience in Communications or Public
Relations field,
- Excellent writing and editing skills (in Armenian, English and Russian),
- Excellent knowledge of Armenian, English and Russian,
- Good understanding of environment and agriculture related issues and
understanding of NGO culture would be a distinct advantage,
- Knowledge of the operations of international organizations, exposure to EU
project policies would be a distinct advantage,
- Experience in website maintenance,
- Experience in the development of awareness raising communication
strategies would be an asset,
- Competence in using Internet and MS Office including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint,
- Experience in working with the state institutions and/or international
organizations is preferable.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proven ability to produce results within tight deadlines;
- Strong analytical thinking;
- Excellent interpersonal, networking and teamwork skills;
- If needed, ability and willingness to work with flexible schedule;
- Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail;
- Ability to organize campaigns and events;
- Ability to conduct fundraising;
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally;
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external
stakeholders;
- Result-oriented, highly motivated and capable of working independently;
- Personal characteristics - patience, diplomacy, ability to listen to
others' opinions, and respect toward colleagues, management skills,
open-minded, friendly, flexible, with sense of responsibility.
REMUNERATION/ SALARY: Commensurate with skills and experience.
