Armen Mazmanyan, Levon Khechoyan
Two prominent Armenian intellectuals died after long illnesses in
Yerevan on Wednesday.
Armen Mazmanyan, a film director and rector of the Yerevan State
Institute of Theater and Cinema, died aged 53, at the Saint Gregory
the Illuminator Medical Center in Yerevan.
Writer Levon Khechoyan also passed away the same day, aged 58.
Mazmanyan, who was also the founding director of the Goy Theater,
had the rank of the Deserved Artist. He was honored with the Fridtjof
Nansen medal and several Armenian state awards.
Khechoyan, who received a state award for one of his novels, lived
and created in Hrazdan. His works have also been published in literary
journals abroad.
