KRZYSZTOF PENDERECKI RECEIVES GOLD MEDAL OF YEREVAN MAYOR

YEREVAN. - Mayor of the Armenian capital Taron Margaryan on Tuesday
received world-renowned Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
Famous composer arrived in Armenia for 80th birth anniversary concert
series to be held from Monday to Thursday within the framework of the
"Yerevan Perspectives" International Music Festival.
Noting composer's contribution to world music, Yerevan Mayor
underscored importance of his concerts in Yerevan. Margaryan touched
upon cooperation between Yerevan and Warsaw, noting that last summer
the capitals signed a memorandum of intention providing for development
of friendly ties between the cities.
Krzysztof Penderecki was awarded a gold medal of Yerevan Mayor.
Famous composer expressed gratitude for the award and assistance to
"Yerevan Perspectives" International Music Festival.
