STRUGGLE AGAINST PENSION REFORM IN ARMENIA EXCLUSIVELY OF ECONOMIC CHARACTER - ACTIVIST
January 14, 2014 | 14:18
YEREVAN. - The struggle against pension reform is exclusively of
economic character, says a member of civil initiative.
Davit Khazhakyan, head of the civil initiative struggling against
pension reform, said although they were joined by four non-coalition
parties, the problem must not be treated only as a political issue.
Despite importance of cooperation between civil society and political
forces, nevertheless the citizens must play the main role in this
struggle.
The precise actions of the initiative representatives during the
January 18 rally have not been decided yet, but more important is
consolidation without any party ideology, an unprecedented phenomenon
for Armenia.
Asked whether they are worried that civil society in Armenia can be
used by politicians, Khazhakyan replied that they have a clear goal
to suspend the law "On pension system", nothing more.
