ARMENIA CAPABLE OF RESPONDING TO AZERBAIJAN'S ANTITANK MISSILES - ARTSRUN HOVHANNISYAN

Armenia has efficient means of antitank defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan,
Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, told Tert.am as he
commented on Azerbaijan's purchase of Turkish antitank guns.
Russia media reported recently that Azerbaijan is purchasing UMTAS
and OMTAS antitank missiles from Turkey. Azerbaijan's army is testing
them now.
"The data on the paper are very good, but practical use is quite a
different thing," Hovhannisyan told Tert.am.
"We have many weapons of this type. We also think of developing our
offensive potential, the potential for a preemptive strike. Azerbaijan
purchasing antitank missiles is the best proof of this necessity,"
he added.
