IF ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES DON'T WITHDRAW GAS PRICE HIKE DECISION, CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE WILL BE JUSTIFIED - EX-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
January 17, 2014 | 11:21
YEREVAN. - An acute societal problem is forming in Armenia, and
this alarm was raised several months ago, political scientist,
ex-presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan stated at a press
conference on Friday.
Ghukasyan also noted that the "Let's Prevent the [Natural] Gas Price
Hike" initiative on Friday will appeal to the Administrative Court.
"We consider this as a chance for the authorities to stop, withdraw
the decision that brings an exacerbating societal situation," the
political scientist said.
He noted that, otherwise, a civil disobedience will be justified.
"The people are simply unable to pay. The actions, where the citizens
are united, will be effective. You also need to find a political
context in all this," Andreas Ghukasyan added.
