MONTEBELLO--The Armenian National Committee of America- San
Gabriel Valley is pleased to announce their endorsement of former
Assemblymember Tony Mendoza for the California State Senate seat in
the 32nd district. Primary elections for newly-drawn district will be
held on June 3. The two top vote-getters will move on to the general
elections on November 4.
The Chairman of the ANCA-SGV, Viken Pakradouni stated "Tony Mendoza is
a highly-qualified candidate with years of experience in this region.
We believe that he can make a significant difference for the
communities in this district. The Armenian-American community can
count on Tony Mendoza to advance our issues of concern and prioritize
our community's needs."
Mendoza has been an elementary school teacher in East Los Angeles
for over ten years. In 1997, he was elected to a seat on the Artesia
City Council, which he would hold for three successful terms. After
a successful campaign in 2006, Mendoza was elected to the California
State Assembly as the representative of the 56th district. Tony
Mendoza has demonstrated a strong track record of tackling challenges
and working for the betterment of the communities he represents.
Throughout the years, Mendoza has been a tireless advocate for
underserved communities, authoring several bills that promote access
to health and education.
The 32nd Senate district incorporates the communities of Artesia,
Bellflower, Buena Park, Cerritos, Commerce, Downey, Hacienda Heights,
Hawaiian Gardens, La Habra Heights, La Mirada, Lakewood, Los Nietos,
Montebello, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Rose Hills, Santa Fe Springs and
South Whittier.
The Armenian National Committee of America- San Gabriel Valley is a
local chapter of the largest and most influential Armenian-American
grassroots advocacy organization in the United States. The ANCA-SGV
