IT IS AZERBAIJAN'S DESTRUCTIVE POLICY THAT THREATENS REGIONAL SECURITY - ARTAK ZAKARYAN
19:58 * 08.07.14
Artak Zakaryan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign
Relations, Parliament of Armenia, shares US Co-Chair of the OSCE
Minsk Group James Warlick's concern over the "status quo [being]
increasingly dangerous."
However, he notes that it is not the status quo, but Azerbaijan's
destructive policy, that poses a threat to regional security. It is
also Azerbaijan's energy carriers, resultant uncontrollable armament
and tolerance to its actions.
"The status quo is becoming more and more important indeed if the
international community is interested in a peaceful settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Zakaryan told Tert.am.
The OSCE Minsk Group must force Azerbaijan to accept the proposals
drafted by the co-chairs and submitted to the sides.
"Otherwise, Azerbaijan's whims will not only make status quo more
dangerous, but also pose a threat regional security."
The status quo is one of the factors that help the OSCE Minsk Group
continue a course of peaceful settlement.
