TURKOLOGIST: FOREIGN POLICY OF TURKEY ALREADY FAILED

    Friday,
    July
    11

The current Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will win in
the first round of the upcoming presidential elections, turkologist
Hakob Chakryan said at a meeting with reporters today.

When commenting on domestic and foreign political developments,
Chakryan indicated Turkey's policy of "zero problems with neighbors".

"Zero neighbors have remained in this sense. Turkey has problems with
all its neighbors. For example, Turkey has no ambassadors to Syria,
Israel, Egypt," he noted, expressing an opinion that Ankara's foreign
    policy already failed.

In his words, problems exist in domestic political relations as well.

"The thorniest issue is the Kurdish problem. In recent period state
political figures in the person of Prime Minister Erdogan are solving
an issue with the leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party which is the
largest Kurdish rebel organization. Erdogan put forward an initiative
on the Kurdish problem, but its contents are not known so far,"
    Chakryan said.

According to him, although Erdogan is being criticized for that
initiative in Turkey, 51% support him in the pre-election period.

Chakryan noted that despite serious disagreements with other political
forces, the Turkish prime minister is the most likely winner of
    elections.
