HOLIDAY AT TURKEY BEACHES ADVERTISED AS TOURS OF 'HISTORICAL CILICIA'

Although the ban to spend holidays in Antalya, Turkey, which was
once imposed on Armenian officials, is not so strict, Armenian MPs
and ministers are constantly warned against going to Antalya, which
is Turkey's administrative unit.
The government press service did not answer Tert.am's question.
Considering the "Antalya factor," many travel agencies offer packages
to Antalya beaches calling them tours of "historical Cilicia."
However, tourists spend most of the time on the beach, while they
spend 1-2 days visiting to holy places of historical Armenia.
As to whether this is a case of deceptive advertising, Chairman of
the Informed and Protected Consumer NGO Babken Pipoyan said that
"people buy tickets and are well aware of where they go."
Rector of the Armenian Institute of Tourism Robert Minasyan says that
no one has the right to orders anyone where to spend their holiday.
"It is like you are told not to eat cheese today. People can spend
their holiday where they want."
According to him, organizing high-quality and affordable holiday is
the best way of making people stay in Armenia.
