The elections for the heads of Georgia's regional councils are held.
As a result, Georgian-Armenian Hamlet Movsisyan was reelected head
of the Akhalkalaki Regional Council.
Artak Gabrielyan, who is coordinator of the Armenian NGOs' Council
of Javakheti--which is a predominantly-Armenian-populated part of
Georgia's southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti Province--told the aforesaid
to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, however, there was no general run-off in the local
government elections.
"The Regional Council, or the Regional Board appoints the mayor of
Akhalkalaki. And in the first round, the authorities' representative
Eduard Aghaseryan was elected Regional Board director," Gabrielyan
added.
