    EPISCOPAL DIVINE LITURGY AND BLESSING OF MADAGH ON THE NAME DAY OF
    THE PRELACY CHAPEL

    In accordance with the Armenian Church calendar, Saturday, July 12,
    2014 was the Feast of St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen, the first Christian
    king and queen of Armenia, which is also the name day of the Prelacy
    "St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen" Chapel.

    On this occasion, on Sunday, July 20, Episcopal Divine Liturgy will
    be celebrated and the blessing of madagh will be conducted by H.E.

    Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, at the Crescenta Valley
    Parish.

    The Prelate will also deliver the sermon. At the conclusion of the
    service, requiem prayers will be offered for the soul of Alexan
    Pilavjian, husband of Chapel benefactor Mrs. Ashkhen Pilavjian.

    "HARUT BARSAMIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND" ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE
    2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR

    His Eminence Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, the Executive
    Council, and the "Harut Barsamian Scholarship Fund" Committee hereby
    announce that applications for the Scholarship Fund are being accepted
    for the 2014-2015 academic year.

    The Fund was established by Prof. Harut Barsamian to assist students
    of Armenian descent in obtaining higher education in the United
    States. The scholarships are granted based on the Scholarship
    Committee's decision.

    The application for the scholarship should include: - A brief biography
    of the applicant, including contact information (address, e-mail, etc.)
    - Proof of acceptance or enrollment at a college or university and
    the student ID - Information about the student's major, year, college
    name, etc.

    Applications must be submitted by August 15, 2014, by e-mail:

    WESTERN PRELACY PUBLISHES "ODE TO ARMENIAN MOTHERS"

    The Western Prelacy is pleased to announce the publication of a
    special volume titled Ode to Armenian Mothers.

    The book, compiled by distinguished educator Sarkis Panossian, is
    a collection of works by famed Armenian poets. It begins with the
    preface by H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate. Brief
    biographical notes and photos of the poets are also included.

    The book was prepared in celebration of the "Year of the Armenian
    Mother" proclamation by His Holiness Aram I in 2013. It is dedicated
    to the memory of three Prelacy faithful, Alice Avakian, Rosa Bekarian,
    and Zevart Movsessian.

    ARMENIAN RELIEF SOCIETY 94TH REGIONAL CONVENTION

    On Friday, July 18, the Armenian Relief Society Western United States
    94th Regional Convention convened at the Hollywood Armenian Center.

    The Prelate delivered the invocation and conveyed his message and
    blessings. His Eminence was accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Vicken
    Vassilian and Rev. Fr. Hrant Yeretzian.

    In his message, the Prelate praised the ARS as not only a universally
    beloved organization, but as an indispensable one whose scope of
    influence is immeasurable and the lives it has touched countless,
    a true blessing for Armenians of all ages and for the perpetuation
    of our heritage and of our nation.

    In conclusion, His Eminence blessed the leadership and members
    of the ARS family and wished for smooth proceedings and fruitful
    deliberations.
