Our Freedom and Liberty Is Not Found in the Constitution, But in Christ Jesus

Even after the conversion of the Roman Empire to Christianity, another
religion rose up in the desert during the 7th century; it was to
become a far greater menace to the Christian faith than pagan Rome
ever was. It created a new empire by invading the Christian Eastern
Roman Empire.
The Christians were persecuted and killed by the pagan Romans,
followed by persecution and killing by the Islamic empires for 1300
years. The last Islamic empire came to an end during the First World
War, but not without one final massive slaughter of Christians.
This past April marked the 99th anniversary of the Armenian genocide
by the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), when one to two million Armenians were
killed (1915-1916) in what is universally recognized as genocide. But
it is denied by Turkey to this day. Many survivors and eyewitnesses
have told the story.
Armenia was crying out to the world because of the persecution and
massacres that the Ottomans were committing. That was the last straw,
the European nations and Russia decided that the Ottoman Empire had to
be destroyed. So the Ottomans went into a rage of revenge against the
Armenians.
The rise of Islamic empire is found in Bible prophecy, but what most
people don't know is that the end of Islamic empire in WW1 is also
found in Bible prophecy, even the genocide.
The history of Islam's war against Christianity is chronicled in a
recent book on Bible prophecy, The Beast and False Prophet Revealed,
by Michael D. Fortner.
Fortner says two short verses in Daniel 11 details the above: "But
reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set
out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. . . . Yet he will
come to his end, and no one will help him." No one came to aid the
Ottoman Empire, because its only ally was Germany which was not able
to help.
This terrible event in history, which was difficult for me to read,
becomes even more surprising and eventful, when I read how it was a
fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. The depth of his book and using
historic details of this genocide, as well as other events in Bible
Prophecy, gives fresh insight to past, present, and future events.
Even though the Islamic empire and Caliphate came to an end in WW1,
Christians are still being persecuted and killed in the Middle East at
a rate of one every five minutes. But that was before the Arab Spring.
The rate is far greater now that the Islamic empire is once again
threatening to come to life again, starting with the Caliphate.
Fortner says the next Islamic empire will be the beast of Revelation
13.
But in America we still live lives of relative luxury and liberty. Our
material wealth and victorious history has caused American Christians
to believe that it cannot happen here. We need to better understand
the history of Satan's war against Christianity, and perhaps we will
be able to see that it can happen here.
We are no better than Armenia that was the first nation to officially
accept Christianity. We cannot rely upon our Constitution to protect
us. As believers, we should understand that our freedom and liberty is
not found in the Constitution, but in Christ Jesus, and since other
Christians have suffered, we need to understand that it can happen to
us also. We are not immune to persecution.
There is no biblical basis for American Christians to believe that we
will never be persecuted. But are we prepared?
