Armenia must beware of Russia's contacts with Turkey as this may
result in some anti-Armenian actions, Turkologist Artak Shakaryan
told journalists on Monday.
He believes that despite their improving relations, Russia and Turkey
perfectly know that they are eternal rivals in this region. "We must
take care lest their ties might transform into anti-Armenian actions,"
Shakaryan said, implying possible change of Russia's attitudes towards
the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
He quoted a Russian minister as telling Armenian Foreign Minister
Edward Nalbandyan that strategic partners must be plain-speaking
with each other. "A strategic partner is a player who may object to
his partner's step and suggest a mutually acceptable solution. So,
Armenia must be more plain-speaking with Russia," Shakaryan said.
