COURT ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR SENIOR POLICE OFFICER'S NEPHEW

A lower court in Yerevan on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant for a
senior Armenian police officer's nephew wanted in a stabbing case.
A search has been announced for Sedrak Osipyan, 22, the nephew of
Valeriy Osipyan, deputy chief of the Yerevan police, who appears to
be on the run after allegedly knifing and wounding another young man
during an argument on June 1.
RFE/RL's Armenian Service quoted head of the Judicial Department's
Public Relations Service Arsen Babayan as saying that when the
law-enforcement agencies find Osipyan, according to a precedent
decision by the Court of Cassation, within 24 hours, a petition should
again be filed with the court.
Thus, the Court will enable the young man to present his position on
the arrest petition.
