NIZHNY NOVGOROD AND ARMENIA DISCUSSED COOPERATION PROSPECTS

The 24th meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Commission
of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National
Assembly of the Republic of Armenia took place in the Nizhny Novgorod
Kremlin. The participants discussed the state of affairs in small
and medium-sized businesses in both countries.
"We are pleased that the Nizhny Novgorod region was given this
honor - to host the meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee -
Acting Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yevgeny Lyulin
said. - Nizhny Novgorod is rich with historical traditions. It is also
important that the Nizhny Novgorod region is a leader among the regions
of Russia on the development of small and medium-sized businesses."
As of the end of 2013, the Nizhny Novgorod region was ranked first
on the development of small business in the Volga Federal District.
"The Nizhny Novgorod region is home to friendly, hardworking
people of active lifestyle and business spirit, - co-chair of the
Inter-Parliamentary Commission, Ermine Naghdalyan, noted. - We shared
experience of entrepreneurship development in Armenia. We also have
an effective system to support small and medium-sized businesses. I'm
sure this experience will be of interest to our colleagues."
Armenia is one of significant external partners of the Nizhny Novgorod
region. The bilateral trade in 2013 amounted to 14.6 million dollars,
which was 20 percent more than in 2012. As of the first quarter of
2014, the turnover grew by 30 percent compared to the same period of
the previous year. Cooperation in the sphere of economy, education,
science and culture continues to develop.
"Today's meeting was very fruitful, we are very grateful to the
Nizhny Novgorod region, to the head of the region, Valery Shantsev,
for the warm welcome, - said Nikolai Ryzhkov. - Today we discussed
the positive experience of our countries and the problems that still
need to be addressed. We decided to establish a work group, that will
look into the suggestions that were made at today's meeting."
