But for the hue and cry raised over Kessab actions in international
structures, Turkey would have carried out its program, Director of
the Institute of Oriental Studies of Armenia's National Academy of
Sciences Ruben Safrastyan told journalists today.
"Turkey's program consisted of two parts - strategic and tactical.
According to the strategic part, Turkey intended to strike a blow to
Latakia and then to take control of northern coastal regions of Syria.
Under the tactical part, it was planned to capture Armenian-populated
Kessab," Safrastyan said, noting that Turkey's plan failed.
We would remind you that Syrian government troops liberated Kessab
yesterday. Over 200 families have already returned to the town.
