    AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT HOLDS MEETINGS IN STRASBURG

    President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on a
    working visit in France, has met with President of the Parliamentary
    Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Anne Brasseur in Strasbourg.

    PACE President Anne Brasseur welcomed Azerbaijani President Ilham
    Aliyev.

    The head of state signed the guestbook of the Council of Europe.

    The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation
    between Azerbaijan and PACE.

    The parties also exchanged views over the work done in the fields
    of human rights and democratization in Azerbaijan, as well as the
    events to be arranged under Azerbaijan's presidency of the Committee
    of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

    On the same day, President Aliyev met with Secretary General of the
    Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland in Strasburg.

    They discussed the priority issues during Azerbaijan's presidency of
    the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

    President Ilham Aliyev spoke of democratic development processes and
    reforms carried out in this field in Azerbaijan in recent years.

    The parties exchanged views over the issues related to the settlement
    of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

    Ilham Aliyev also met with president of the European Court of Human
    Rights Dean Spielmann in Strasbourg.

    President of the European Court of Human Rights Dean Spielmann welcomed
    President Ilham Aliyev.

    The parties discussed the issues related to cooperation between
    Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies and the European Court of Human
