YEREVAN. - The Armeian diplomatic sources inform that there are no
non-negotiated and unsolved problems between Armenia and the Eurasian
Economic Union (EaEU), 168 Zham daily reported.
"The cause for the delay [in Armenia's EaEU accession] is primarily
political.
"Belarus and Kazakhstan--two of the three Eurasian Economic Union
member countries--are against Armenia's accession, since they are
concerned that, in this case, the existing balance of powers will be
broken in this union.
"Under the current format, Belarus and Kazakhstan are very often able
to reach an agreement with each other and impose upon Russia the
approaches that are acceptable for them.
"[But] if Armenia becomes an EaEU member, the ratio of powers will
change, since Armenia cannot join Belarus and Kazakhstan against
Russia under any circumstance.
"On the contrary, Russia can at any time use Armenia's one vote [in
the EaEU] to terminate the making of decisions that are unacceptable
for it," 168 Zham wrote.
