YEREVAN. March 17
The foreign ministry of the self-proclaimed Nagorno Karabakh Republic
sees the Crimean referendum as "a fresh example of the nations'
right to self determination in action."
"The nations' right to decide their future in a democratic referendum,
sealed in the UN Charter and other fundamental international laws,
is a key principle of international law," the Foreign Ministry said
in statement received by Interfax.
"The practice of the past few years, including the referendums being
planned in Catalonia and Scotland, indicate that recognition and
implementation of the nations' right to self-determination is the most
optimal and democratic way of peaceful settlement of such problems,"
the statement says.
The foreign ministry of Nagorno Karabakh hopes that the situation
that took shape in the Crimea after the referendum will be settled
legally and exclusively by peaceful means, the statement says.
