`DER VOGHORMYA' PRAYERS FORPEACE IN SYRIA
AND SAFETY OF KESSAB
With great concern we follow the latestdevelopments in the Syrian
crisis, which has sadly reached the Armenian town of Kessab.
According to reports, Kessab has beenattacked by rebels who
crossed the Turkish border. The Syrian army isattempting to keep the
rebels out of the area. In the meantime, the majority ofthe population
has escaped to Latakia, about two hours away, with only theclothing on
their backs.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all theinnocent Syrians caught
in the crossfire of this civil strife, and especiallywith the Kessab
Armenians during this critical time.
By the ordinance of H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, on
Sunday, March 22, 2014, Der Voghormya (Lord have mercy) will be offered
for the safety and well-being of Kessab'sresidents.
We urge our faithful to join us in prayingfor the protection of
our brothers and sisters and for a peaceful resolution tothis
years-long conflict.
