Armenia must demand that the world community condemn Turkey's actions
against the Kesab Armenians, representatives of the Aleppo authorities
Nerses Sargsian told journalists on Wednesday.
He said that in his speech Armenia's President spoke about actions
against ethnic minorities. "But the problem here is also that for
the Kesab Armenians Kesab is their historical land even though it is
situated in the territory of Syria and the Turkish authorities are
directly supporting the Islamist groups that are attacking the town.
So, we would like the Armenian authorities to express a clear attitude
towards the events," Sargsian said.
Another representative of the Aleppo authorities Garo Yuzbashian
said that the Kesab Armenians are eager to go back to their homes but
they can't do this now as they need security guarantees. As regards
the readiness of the Armenian and Nagorno-Karabakh authorities to
receive the Kesab Armenians, he said that if the latter are forced
to leave Syria, the first place they will come to will be Armenia
and only then depending on their occupation, they will chose where
exactly they will leave.
