Eurasian official: List of Customs Union preferences for Armenia may
become shorter
March 29, 2014 | 18:04
YEREVAN. - The list of Customs Union preferences for Armenia may
become shorter, Russian Minister Tatyana Valovaya said in Yerevan.
She commented on the request for interim exemptions from customs
duties on 900 commodity groups presented by the Armenian side during
talks on Customs Union accession.
"We are not prepared to say that the tariff exemptions will be exactly
900. But there are different mechanisms. There are exemptions from the
customs tariff, and there are other decisions on tariff concessions.
And we need to see how we can respond to the goods sensitive for the
Armenian side," said Valovaya, the Eurasian Economic Commission Board
Member.
Anyway, exemption is a temporary mechanism. For Kazakhstan, the list
initially included 400 commodity groups, the benefits are now 60, and
by the end of 2014 their term expires.
