YEREVAN. - Political status of Karbakh is not being discussed during
talks on Armenia's joining Customs Union, Russian official said in
Yerevan.
Tatyana Valovaya, the Eurasian Economic Commission Board Member and
Minister for Macroeconomics and Principal Directions of Integration,
recalled that Customs Union is solely an economic organization.
"We are not discussing the status of territories. We have respect
towards intentional process ongoing on the matter, but it will not
affect the economic process undertaken by us," she said.
Valovaya noted that economic integration not always implies complete
solution to political issues.
"For example, UK and Spain have been parts of one economic area for a
long time, but they have Gibraltar. We have no problems for Armenia to
become a future member of Eurasian Economic Space," she emphasized.
