NO GOVERNMENT WILL EVER GRANT SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS TO OPPOSITION - GAGIK JHANGIRYAN
16:09 * 28.05.14
In an interview with Tert.am Armenian National Congress (ANC)
parliamentary group member Gagik Jhangiryan said that no government
ever grant supervisory functions to opposition political forces.
"I do not believe that there will ever be a government that would grant
all or some of the supervisory functions to the opposition. It is
of the 'good wishes' genre. Of course, in some countries opposition
members hold the posts of Chairman of the Control Chamber or any
other supervisory body, according to the Constitution or laws. But
we have not had such traditions."
Moreover, Armenia's authorities are taking even more than they are
supposed to have.
"And now we want the authorities to hand the means of supervision
over to us. But it would be a fantastic performance. You need vivid
imagination to make such suppositions," Jhangiryan said.
With respect to Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan's statement
that he does not object to the opposition performing supervisory
functions, but it is not able to properly former them, Jhangiryan
said that the premier just avoided the question.
"I think the opposition will never be trusted because they are always
finding an excuse. But can the authorities be trusted?"
