On October 23rd, 2014, "Green Lane" Agricultural Assistance NGO
organised the third National Seminar in the scope of the EU-funded
regional project "Eco-migration: dialogue and cooperation in the South
Caucasus countries for better life". The meeting was held in
Yerevan. During the seminar various stakeholders (representatives of
ministries, NGOs, different institutions and organizations) were
introduced to the following Thematic Policy Documents, developed in
the framework of the project:
. categorization of eco-migrants;
. forms of State assistance to eco-migrants;
. criteria for State assistance;
. compensation mechanisms.
The issues outlined in the documents were discussed
extensively. Arevik Lazarian (Foundation for the Preservation of
Wildlife and Cultural Assets), Gevorg Torosyan (the RA Ministry of
Energy and Natural Resources), Nune Sarukhanyan ("Green Lane" NGO),
Gohar Sokhikyan (State Employment Agency), Armenuhi Pahlevanyan
(Armenian National Agrarian University), Anna Stepanyan ("Youth
Academy of Democracy and Development" NGO) and others participated in
the discussion. Project Consultant Karen Hovhannisyan mentioned that
these documents will be useful for the development and further
improvement of the sector in Armenia.
The project started in May, 2013, and will last until August 2015. It
is implemented by "Green Lane" Agricultural Assistance NGO and the
Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN), and is funded by the
European Union. The overall objective of the project is to support the
initiation and successful systemic reform of eco-migration policies in
the South Caucasus countries via strengthening the capacities of civil
society actors and enhancing structured and inclusive multi-stakeholder
dialogue at the national and regional levels. The target communities
are the Lori and Tavush regions.
