Dear AESA Members and Supporters,
American University of Armenia (AUA) has established the Center for
Responsible Mining which will be involved in teaching courses,
establishing a laboratory to conduct testing, evaluating and
recommending changes to mining laws in Armenian, etc. AUA with
assistance of ONEArmenia organization has launched a crowdfunding
campaign for lab equipment. The Armenian Engineers and Scientists of
America (AESA) would like you to consider supporting this center.
The equipment to be purchased will help mining communities determine
the specific locations and levels of toxic pollution in their soil and
the levels of pollution in water. This information will help
communities manage their health risks by avoiding polluted areas and
taking steps to stabilize the soil in smaller, more manageable
sites. The equipment could also arm communities with information to
hold polluters accountable and seek compensation for cleanup. This
crowdfunding campaign has a fundraising goal of $29,000.
Green Armenia, which is part of AESA, would like you to support this
fundraising effort. You can visit the following Indiegogo site to
watch a short video and learn more about the mining related issues as
well as to make your donations online:

Sincerely,
