IMF forecasts 2014 inflation in Armenia at 2.5%
YEREVAN. Oct 31
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expecting that inflation in
Armenia will be 2.5% in 2014 and 4% in 2015.
Resident IMF Representative in Yerevan Teresa Daban Sanchez said at a
press conference on Friday that at present in Armenia there is very
low inflation - for September 2014 it was 1.5% - compared to September
of last year.
"Today inflation in the republic has reached a historic minimum," Sanchez said.
She said that global trends and a number of internal factors are
affecting the inflation situation in Armenia, including low demand,
which is attributable to the slowdown in economic growth and
under-funding of capital expenditure by the budget.
Inflation in Armenia in 2013 was 5.6%. Earlier the IMF forecast
inflation for Armenia in 2014 at 5.4%.
