U.S. CONCERNED ABOUT DOWNING OF KARABAKH HELICOPTER
Karabakh | 13.11.14 | 11:20
The United States has expressed concern about the downing by
Azerbaijani forces of an Armenian military helicopter in an incident
that appears to have already heightened tensions in the Karabakh
conflict zone.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the incident is
"yet another reminder" of the need to reduce tensions and respect a
ceasefire in the region.
Psaki told reporters in Washington on Wednesday that there could be
"no military solution to the conflict," according to RFE/RL.
Earlier, the OSCE Minsk Group, which is co-headed by the U.S. along
with Russia and France, also expressed concern over the incident,
calling on the sides to avoid steps that would escalate tensions along
the Line of Contact in Karabakh and at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
