Frontline units of the Karabakh Defense Army have been taking all
necessary means to prevent Azerbaijani forces from approaching the
site of the downed Armenian helicopter, the Karabakh Defense Ministry
said in a statement on Friday.
Because of enemy fire the Armenian side has also not been able to
access the crash site, which is in the so-called neutral zone at the
Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops. Three
Armenian pilots are presumed dead in the November 12 incident in
which the helicopter operating a training flight was shot down by
Azerbaijani forces.
"At this moment both the helicopter wreckage and all other parts
of the frontline are under constant control of Armenian forces,"
the Karabakh Defense Ministry said, adding that intense shootings
have been registered along the Line of Contact and at the helicopter
crash site in particular, since the day of the incident.
"During the night of November 20-21 alone at the indicated site
the Azerbaijani army violated the ceasefire regime 190 times, using
firearms of different caliber. In eight cases grenade-throwers and
other large-caliber weapons were used," the statement said.
