ABSENCE OF COMMON BORDER WITH EEU WILL NOT HAMPER ARMENIA'S INTEGRATION INTO SINGLE EURASIAN ECONOMIC SPACE, SERZH SARGSYAN

YEREVAN, October 10. / ARKA /. Armenia does not share common border
with any of the Eurasian Economic Union's member state, but this will
not hamper its integration into the single Eurasian space, Armenia
President Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian
    Economic Council in Minsk, Belarus.

Today Armenia has joined the Eurasian Economic Union. The agreement
was signed by the heads of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia
in Minsk, Belarus. The agreement comes into force in 2015.

"The membership of Armenia has its own specificity which is the
absence of common borders with the rest of the Eurasian Economic
Union. However, we believe that this would not hamper the integration
of Armenia into the single system of regulation, transportation,
energy, telecommunications and finance in our common economic area,"
    he said.

"We are well aware of the special responsibilities that we assume by
joining the treaty," said the Armenian leader.

Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the states that have founded the EEU
with reaching the new frontier. He noted that the EEU is the largest
    economic association geographically.

Serzh Sargsyan said also Armenia is considering the Eurasian Economic
Union as a 'basic format of predictable and most profitable relations
for its members, based on the principles of freedom of movement of
    goods, services, capital and labor.

He also stressed that for Armenia it is obvious that "together we are
stronger economically, and it is easier for us to respond to global
    challenges." -0-
