ARMENIAN PRESIDENT WANTS CIS TO FOCUS ON PEACE AND STABILITY

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that the CIS was playing an
important role in maintaining stability in the world in the context
of tensions in other regions. He added that cooperation within the
framework of the CIS should focus on peace and stability, settlement
and prevention of conflicts according to the principles of the UN
Charter, TASS reports.
Military cooperation and collaboration of law enforcers and border
guards in fighting drug trafficking is an important priority pointed
out by Sargsyan.
The Armenian leader thanked Belarus for encouraging cooperation among
CIS members as the chair of the organization.
He also reminded, in the light of the 70th anniversary of the Great
Patriotic War, that "the bloody lessons of two world wars of the 20th
century should stay in the memory of generations," BELTA reports.
