DAVIT USUFASHVILI: GROWING CLOSENESS OF GEORGIA WITH EUROPEAN UNION WILL NE AFFECT NEGATIVELY RELATIONS WITH FRIENDLY ARMENIAN PEOPLE

In the Parliament palace of Tbilisi there was held the opening session
of the meeting of inter-parliamentary collaboration group of Georgia
and Armenia. The speaker of Georgian Parliament David Usufashvili and
President of National Assembly of Armenia Galust Sahakian delivered
greeting speech, reports GHN.
"I want to touch one issue. Several months ago Georgia signed
Association Agreement with European Union and in several days Armenia
is going to join Eurasian Union to provide with protection of own
strategic interests and their implementation. I want to say one more
time that both countries respect sovereign choice of each other. I
want to assure one more time that growing integration of Georgia
with European Union will not affect negatively on then relations
with friendly Armenian nation. We stated about clearly with our
European partners that relations with European Union we perceive as
profitable condition for our neighbor Armenia. I am sure that our
colleagues will use the same approach while joining Eurasian Union
and our Armenian colleagues will clearly explain to the partners
of the union that in future there will not be any kind of problem,
obstacle between two countries, among them concerning trade-economic
relations. This is vital strategic issue for both countries and we
have full understanding in this direction," stated Davit Usufashvili.
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia
Galust Sahakian talked about relations between two countries and
about necessity for deepening these relations.
"We have opinion to develop and deepen relations between two
countries. We pay big attention to the deepening of inter-parliamentary
relations and development, because it is big part of inter-state
relations. It is important that our relations receive new sparkle,"
stated Galust Sahakian.
