IFC IMPLEMENTED PROJECTS WORTH $320MLN IN ARMENIA OVER 15 YEARS
YEREVAN, October 13./ARKA/. Projects worth over 320 million drams
were implemented in Armenia in cooperation with the International
Financial Cooperation (IFC) over 15 years, Armenia's premier Hovik
Abrahamyan said at his meeting with IFC CEO Jin-Yong Cai in Washington.
The premier highly appreciated IFC's role in economic development
in Armenia and stressed the importance to continue the cooperation,
the government press office reported.
Majority of these projects were implemented in finance, industry and
mining, the premier said.
Support from IFC helped Armenia implemented important institutional
reforms to improve business environment and investment climate,
Abrahamyan said.
The inspection system reform is a key issue on the government's agenda,
he said.
Jin-Yong Cai, in his turn, stressed the importance of interaction
with Armenia and said he is happy with efficiency of the reforms.
IFC will continue supporting the country in mining projects,
agribusiness, energy and other sectors, the CEO said.
Jin-Yong Cai said the IFC intends to increase its investment portfolio
in Armenia's real economy sector.
Abrahamyan also met with representatives of Armenian National Committee
of America in Washington and discussed foreign and internal policy,
economic development and other issues with them. -0--
